Eleonora Fontana is a PhD Student at the University of Pisa and a Guest Student in Soft Robotics for Human Cooperation and Rehabilitation group at IIT.

She received her Bachelor's Degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the University of Ferrara in 2018 with a thesis focusing on technologies for active upper limb prostheses. In March 2021 she completed her Master's Degree in Computer and Automation Engineering, conducting a research internship where she developed a three-axis control system for the mechanical structure Agile-Eye.

Following her studies, she spent one year at IMA Group Bologna as a Software Developer for HMI Panels and PLCs. Subsequently, she decided to pursue a career in research at IIT, where she worked as a fellow at the Industrial Robotics Facility. There, she collaborated on the SoftManBot project, an EU-funded initiative aimed at developing precise and robust dexterous grippers for industries dealing with soft material handling. Her primary research areas included modeling and controlling robotic and intelligent systems, especially in industrial environments.

She commenced her PhD with the University of Pisa in March 2023. Her PhD project aims to create haptic devices for rehabilitation systems using proprioceptive feedback.
